Sydney + Devin’s Wedding Film

leave a comment »

When we sat down to meet and discuss the possibility of helping Sydney and Devin capture their wedding on film at the Old Decatur Courthouse in Atlanta, GA, there was a genuine feel of emotion between this couple. During the discussion about their wedding film, the couple communicated that they had TV/Video Production backgrounds, so from a technical standpoint we were able to talk about some of the latest tools that help make a great wedding film. From the very start it became a collaborative effort that we all were comfortable with. It was important to learn some of the important details about what the couple expected for J and J Digital Media to capture.  As a wedding videographers we have truly have learned to keep open minds and be prepared when it comes to capturing content for wedding films and this occasion was no exception. The couple planned a first look prior to the wedding. While we have done many first looks in the past, this was different. The emotion felt by Sydney and Devin was overwhelming and contagious as you can see in the their highlight film. After the first look, we dried our eyes, gathered our composure, and prepped for what we knew would carry over from the first look to the wedding itself and it did not disappoint! The Return of Chinyere and Ronald, a Lake Lanier Islands Wedding Film

leave a comment »

For Ronald this was an opportunity to return to where it all began.  Having grown up in the northern US, Ronald spent most of his summers visiting family with events centering around Lake Lanier. So, to come back to Lake Lanier Islands to marry his sweetheart was a dream come true. Chinyere whose roots are in Ghana, West Africa, was joined by family who would not have missed this occasion for anything.  The atmosphere was festive, the food was delicious and we all had a great time celebrating this couple’s big day. This was an outside event which took place at 4 pm, so experience with ND filters came in handy for this shoot. We provided this couple with wedding memories that will last a lifetime! Joshua’s African Queen/Beauty/Dream, Wedding Film

The celebration started the the night before the wedding and lasted until zerodarkthirty. The sights, sounds and colors of this two part traditional African wedding  were truly exhilarating! Cecilia and Joshua were surrounded by family from across the globe to help them celebrate their big day. And in the shadows, J and J Digital Media, discretely capturing the events as they unfolded. An early afternoon wedding with direct sunlight definitely called for the ND filters to be in full effect. One of the advantages of hiring an experienced videographer in Atlanta GA. Both Cecilia and Joshua’s families made us feel like we were a part of the family. We wish you well on your new lives together. See the highlights at:  https://vimeo.com/79371246

Stacey and AJ’s Wedding Romance and Video Hightlights!

leave a comment »

At the outset we knew that there was something a little different about Stacy and AJ. Traditional in many aspects, but abundantly unique in their approach to the planning and execution of their wedding. We were there to help them remember every aspect. From the statement of vows written by the couple, to those in attendance remembering and stating the names of those that had gone before them followed by the statement, “Ashay,” meaning “In Honor.” The couple sprinkled drops of sacred water from a cup upon hearing each name . There was truly not a dry eye in the house during the ceremony. It was not long after that the fun truly jumped off in the house at the Atlanta Marriot Marquis. We wish Stacy and AJ a blessed and wonderful marriage!!! Congrats………..        View the Wedding Video Highlights at the following link    https://vimeo.com/44008105

What a great Wedding Day celebration with a great couple! Tara and Louis exchanged vows at sunset at the Hilton, Marietta Conference Center. Tara made sure that she represented her Jamaican background by having a steel drum band perform at the outside wedding. I had never seen a flower girls with wings until now. With the sun shining and birds chirping love was truly in the air at the Atrium in Norcross, GA. After spending less than 5 minutes with Jessica and Kenyan,  we got the feeling that these two were an awesome couple. This was an outside wedding that occurred around sunset, so the atmosphere was truly captivating. Outside weddings are always exciting and makes for a great video. You can see some the stills that we captured from video below and see the Highlights/Trailer at the following link http://vimeo.com/36170079

The Wedding Video Story of Crystal and Anthony

Winter weddings are fun! Especially if the wedding is outdoors?! God shined his face upon Crystal and Anthony as the weather held out for a comfortable winter wedding at Shamrock Community Center in Jonesboro, GA. The colors for this wedding were bold and beautiful. (Gold and Black). The Groom (Anthony) a devout Pittsburgh Steeler fan, was suprised to see that the Bride (Crystal), had a Pittsburgh Steeler cake made especially for him and presented at the reception. How does Anthony show his appreciation for his cake? By smashing the cake in the face!?!?!?!, but in a loving kinda way….OK, we have a hunch about where Anthony spent the night sleeping on the honeymoon. Can you say C>O>U>C>H. Ouch!! Be glad she had already said, “I do.” Nevertheless, we love outside weddingss and we were honored to have played a small part in helping make Crystal and Anthony’s wedding day memories live forever. Best of Luck and God Bless Anthony and Crystal!. We invite you to view a few stills below that we captured from video and  the Highlight/Trailer at http://vimeo.com/35765804

The Wedding Video Story of Margaretta and Ben

leave a comment »

Can you say PARTY…………..?
That is exactly what it was in Newnan, GA. until the weeeeee hours of the morning as I vaguely remember. This wedding was unique as all weddings are, but with some Croatian traditions by way of the Bride, Margaretta. Breaking a champagne bottle at the reception was one that we truly had not seen nor heard of until this celebration. The first dance was especially touching with the families of both bride and groom embracing as the couple danced to Peter Gabrielle’s, “The Book of Love.” On the technical side, it was a standard Catholic Ceremony which lasted about 45 minutes. Although most Catholic Synagogues are very restrictive, we were able to get some very unique angles as the couple embraced for thier first kiss. The bride and groom planned and executed a truly unique exit at the end of the ceremony, which again, we had not seen until this ceremony. The reception was outdoors at the family’s estate in Newnan. I love shooting outdoors, particularly because of the perfect lighting which enables superb color acquisition with HD cameras. As with all outdoor weddings the challenge is to make sure that your settings are on manual, especially focus control. A quote from the bride, “Bennie, you guys were wonderful. I could not have asked for a more professional experience. We have watched the DVD well over 50 times and I am still amazed at how entertaining and fun it is to watch. Thank you so much.” www.JandJDigitalMedia.Com

The Wedding Video Story of Kesha and Sheldon

A delightful day indeed at the Vecoma near Stone Mountain, GA. It was a day of delight laughter and fun for Kesha and Sheldon. The couple planned their wedding in

“exquisite detail and it really showed.” However, there was a bit of a surprise that only Sheldon knew about. He upgraded Kesha’s ring and when it came to the exchange of rings. “BAAAM!” What a surprise as Kesha shouted with utter surprise and we, J and J Digital Media were there to capture every moment. When they look back on their wonderful day it will be a moment that they both will treasure for years to come. As for the setting. The Vecoma is a beautiful quaint venue located in Stone Mountain. It sets near the Yellow River and makes for some great still shots. The food was great, dancing was fun and we were are honored to have played a small part in helping to make the couple’s wedding day memories live forever. The couple’s comments about their video. “Bennie, We absolutely LOVE our video! We couldn’t be more happy! Thank You……

Tamika and Eric Yancy Wedding at Pristine Chapel, Jonesboro, GA

You could not ask for a more perfect day for a wedding. Sun shining, birds chirping and love in the air. This was one of the more unique weddings that I have witnessed complete with a bride’s best man! The brother of the bride. The wedding video was exceptional!!! I am listing some of the challenges and how we were able to overcome them. Some challenges that we needed to overcome were the following.

1. A 12noon wedding with the sun directly overhead. This presents a unique challenge in that the LCD screens used to view the video that we were shooting was saturated by sunlight and made it extremly hard for us to see the viewfinder. For obvious reasons one would need to see what he is shooting, but with high definition video in an outside setting you really should only use the manual focus. So, you really need to see what the camera is picking up in detail. We used field expedient viewfinder hoods by cutting card board to make shade for our viewfinders.

2. It was an extremely windy day. During any kind of event the last thing the viewer wants to hear is the wind whizzling in the microphone. Therefore we used (windsocks) to help absorb the sound of the wind along with external microphones.

All in all, we made the necessary adjustments in order to be able to produce an outstanding video production for Tamika and Eric.

These are a few tips and tricks that you can apply when shooting video that, “does not suck.” Good Shooting!!!!

I have attached a few still photos from video and have posted the link for the trailer… Enjoy!!!
